28. SUPERFICIAL THINGS THAT MAKE ME HAPPY
My inner child
photographers, jersey shore, gaga...kids do it so much better
Having my roots (properly) re-done
Never, ever EVER try to bleach your roots at home by yourself. Ever. They WILL turn orange. Your WILL want to cry.
The interesting compliments you receive after walking out of a salon knowing your don't look like a science experiment anymore
1. "hey lady you lookin' well fine today...excuse me...hey! i'm in fashion you know!"
2. "i would never forgive myself if i didnt speak to you. is that your boyfriend? no? you like english men? well...you know what they say, men are like money... you can never have enough"
3. "i've seen you somewhere before...oh i know, in my dreams"
4. "can i have your number? please? i'll polish your shoes."
This week's episode of Gossip Girl

27. MORE!
After following Audrey Kawasaki's blog, I've stumbled upon quite a few interesting sites and artists.
First, Sex in Art. I think the name speaks for itself, but they've got a range of fantastic artwork.
From there I made it to a website called Diversionmary, where a lot of the work just took my breath away. I highly recommend a look-see.
And now I'm perving on TasteSpotting which is filled with food, glorious food! Enjoy!

26. INSPIRATION
Pat McGrath is the artistic mastermind behind so many couture shows and campaigns over the years. Self taught as well. Self. Taught. With only a Foundation Degree from somewhere in Northampton.
I don't know much about Audrey Kawasaki, but she seems to love painting on wood. And bless her for it because her work is so intriguing and elegant it makes me want to vandalize my bedside table.
Last but not least, Alex Pardee is a man who does designs for a store between Carnaby and Regent Street called Upper Playground. I like him because he's colourful as hell, and he reminds me of the type of drawings that Jesper does, all distorted and stuff.

25. BLONDE
so i'm not a natural blonde by any means. my common sense seems to be in tact, i dont have blue eyes, and my skin doesnt go bright red the minute i step into the sun (which is probably more associated with gingers, but whatever).
but i've spent all of 2010 gradually lightening my hair, probably 3-4 hours at the salon at a time, totaling up to about 2 weeks of my year spent bleaching my roots and toning my rapidly growing coiffure, and i have to say it's been worth it.
i don't know if there's any truth to the phrase blondes have more fun, i've definitely had just as much fun as a brunette, with red hair, even dark blue, but as someone who likes to change their hair as fast as some people change their relationship status, i've started to wonder why i keep coming back to the platinum blonde look that's got a hint of brown roots growing out now as i type this.
and i think i've figured it out: barbie.
this lady has been an influence on my life since i was a little girl in the soviet union. moving to canada at the age of 5 i actually told my aunt i was "going to visit barbie's house".
talk about being an ideal target market.
so here's barbie in all her glory, along with some of the un-natural blondes i've always admired; not for their hair colour per-say, but for the attitude these women have behind it, that i know this lighter shade contributes to.
"best hair in south london" someone once said to me.
i mean, there's gotta be something to it...

24. CHANTING
it's 1am
and there is drunken chanting outside the bar across the street
it seems everyone in london knows the words.
it reminds me of watching musicals as a kid and worrying that if people break out into dance in real life, i wouldn't know the moves.

21. HAPPINESS
Superficial things that contribute to the immense happiness that is my life right now:
Snooki: "I don't go tanning tanning anymore because Obama put a 10% tax on tanning, and I feel like he did that intentionally for us. McCain would never put a 10% tax on tanning. Because he's pale and he'd probably wanna be tanned. Obama doesn't have that problem. Obviously."
